Happy Monday my friends, I hope you had a lovely (and sunny) weekend! I wanted to stop by my blog and chat about something I’ve been working on this past year (since turning 30)…choosing quality over quantity. For someone like me, who hates spending money, it’s a bit harder to do. BUT, in the past year or so, I’ve been much more aware of my purchases and how to invest in quality items. So, below I’m sharing my four favorite products to splurge on and ones that I never regret.
Yes, you’ve heard me talk about it before, but Beautycounter has been a game and life changer for me. That first initial spend of well over $200 was beyond difficult, especially from someone who would only drop $6 for face wash. And I’ll be honest, for someone who has hyper-pigmentation, I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner. P.S. I’m currently using the COUNTERTIME COLLECTION along with my favorite charcoal mask and charcoal bar. It’s amazing not only how much it has changed my face, skin, complexion..but also how long it lasts! — P.S. See my Before & After (and you’ll see what I mean).
I am not a big jewelry person and you will typically see me donning my wedding ring, a simple stud diamond earring, and a dainty necklace. For the past couple years, I’ve purchased probably 6 (no joke) different necklaces that look very similar, that either brake, discolor, scratch, or get all tangled up.
Enter, AU Rate – the most delicate, pure, handcrafted jewelry – no concessions. As you may have seen, my husband and I recently celebrated our 3rd anniversary and I realized how perfect the Gold Bar Necklace would be engraved with ‘our song’ from when we started dating 11 years ago. I’m OBSESSED with this, and even after wearing it for about 2 weeks, I’ve had more comments and compliments on it than ever, especially when they see the subtle engraving and want to know what it says.
And on top of that, I got the daintiest little Rose Gold Ring. I only got one to make sure I liked it (and if it fits) and I’ll be honest, I’ll be ordered a few more soon so I can stack them — aka: like her HERE. So, I highly recommend taking a peek at their collections, but also seeing their mission, and how they also give back.
No joke, I wear only 3 pairs of pants, and one flare/bell bottom if I’m in the mood. I used to buy my pants at Target, express, and sometimes Old Navy..but I’ll be honest, they only lasted a season or year typically. Over two years ago I bought my first pair of Madewell denim and still wear them daily (when I’m not wearing yoga pants). I own 2 pairs of Madewell, one pair of Levi (which shrink a little) and one pair of Citizens of Humanity. And my Madewell boyfriend jean is by far the most comfortable pair of denim I have ever owned. It’s also not a super baggy boyfriend and fits like a glove. Again, I only wish I would have invested in good denim years ago!
Okay, so I don’t know if this counts, but about a year or so ago I took the plunge and bought myself a Nespresso..and haven’t look back since. I am not one to go out and get coffee every, so it’s not that it’s truly ‘saving’ me money, but it’s my treat to myself every morning. I have the Nespresso CitiZ and frother and it’s the best thing since sliced bread. I also order Monin Hazelnut syrup online which I froth along with a little almond milk and make the best homemade lattes daily. Not only that, but it can make iced lattes (cold froth) and I even perfected delicious espresso martinis.
