Five years ago we were planning our little destination wedding in North Carolina AND hunting for our first home. It was crazy, stressful and oh-so-exciting. Exactly one month after tying the knot, we closed on our first home…and the painting commenced :) I thought I would share our home makeover before and after because you’d be surprised what some paint could do!
First things first, paint, paint, paint! I partnered with Benjamin Moore (what a dream) to take our doors, walls, and trim to the next level. We started with our kitchen and living room and then worked our way around the house.
We used Benjamin Moore Satin Impervo Waterborne in White Dove for trim/doors/cabinets and then Classic Grey OC-23, Regal Select, Eggshell Finish for the walls.
This was one of the first ‘Projects’ we did to our house..the Ikea Hack DIY Built-Ins. Its still one of my favorite parts about our home. I literally re-style these shelves every season (which you can see in my stories HERE)
I knew right away the yellow/brown textured walls needed to go and the cabinets needed a paintin’. We unforunately never got around to actually replacing the countertops or the backsplash. But damn, paint does some wonders!
I LOVE this one and couldn’t be happier with the Hale Navy wall from Benjamin Moore. It’s really the only bold wall in the entire house and still absolutely love it. Not only that, but I thrifted the very awesome table and chairs, which I then paired with a mid-century light fixture. I just love it.
By far the most ‘made-over’ room in the entire house. I say this because we put the most ‘money ‘into this one. It was still around $500 and by far the best investment yet. You can tell from the pics that I also like to change up the ‘palette’ in my office seasonally too :) — P.S. I used Simply White OC-117 from Benjamin Moore. — Before this makeover, I used the Blanched Coral but since this room doesn’t get much natural light, it was very PINK.
This was the next fun room makeover that I recently did. Besides the same paint colors (classic gray), I actually sanded down the orange-y oak cabinets and just did a matte poly clear stain overtop. Between that, the new hardware and the light fixture..it’s a winner :)
We used Come Sail Away in this room..and my husband unfortunately never liked it. He said it looks like an insane asylum…But, it’s still a pretty great before and after if you ask me :)
Another room that just needed some good ol’ paint :) – We did this with the same classic gray and just added a piece of trim to the fireplace (which you might be able to tell. But seriously..paint is AMAZING.
Just for fun and because I love this back area..here’s some past snaps. We did add a privacy wall, which was absolutely perfect :)
