Just to start, I’m terrible with words and definitely not a great writer. But, I wanted to share some thoughts. This past week has been so very eye-opening for me and the first thing I want to do is apologize. I’m 33 and guilty of not always standing up, not taking action, and not educating myself more on racism and white privilege. From the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry it took all of this for me to see that and to acknowledge that within me. It feels uncomfortable but I know that ‘uncomfortable’ feeling is nothing compared to what black and people of color have gone through (and go through on a daily basis). Growing up, I always knew we are the same despite the color of our skin, our religion, our sex, etc. But now, more than ever, I am learning that is simply not enough…not even close.
I have so much more to learn and know I will not stop listening, reading, and standing up. I am going to continue to do my best and do my part
With that, one thing I knew I wanted to do is share some very talented BIPOC brand & website designers. There is a lot of talent out there, so please drop any recommendations in my comments! :) – We live in one big world and let me tell you, there is space for all of us. I know, as a designer myself, that I have a list of ‘designer recommendations’ when I’m unable to fit in a client. So, I urge any designer out there reading this, to take a look at your own list and even reach out to some below or add them to your own recommendations.
