A Letter to My Husband on His First Father’s Day

Kiley,

It’s your first Father’s Day, even if you don’t think so ;) Our baby girl is going to arrive any minute and I know it will all probably come more naturally to you than me..as we know, kids seem to flock to you. Remember when we first became friends in college and you told me you wanted to be married with kids around 25? I then proceeded to tell you that I don’t ever want kids and plan to move halfway across the US to pursue my career as a wedding planner 😬 .

Well, fast forward 15+ years and it’s actually happening ;)

We know our lives are about to change so much and are both quite nervous about it. From lack of sleep, our time as a couple, my time to dedicate to work..and simply the time we both selfishly love just doing nothing. But, I think we both can agree we are a better team now than we ever have been :)

And for that, I am so grateful we did ‘wait’ 15 years.

I look forward to watching you with her and hope she’s the perfect mix of both of us.. but, I definitely hope she gets your humor (which I know people love), your brain (that seems to just soak up all the information), and your athleticism (with that drive to practice until perfect).. oh and your calves/eyes/hair/butt ;).

I know I may make fun of your lack of patience (on those day-to-day things), but in all reality, you have been the most patient throughout our life together…and I hope she learns that from you.

And here’s to hoping little Curry will be a good big brother and that we still spoil him to death. He has NO IDEA how much his life is going to change!

Next Father’s Day will look quite different of course, but I promise you this, I won’t plan ANYTHING… which I know you prefer ;)

Here’s to our world completely changing, but staying true to who we are and what we value when it comes to family. Including the fact that she’s going to be a badass bags player just like us ;) Love you, papa. Happy Father’s Day to you.
