Since the New Year, I’ve made sure to try something new and work on ‘healthy’ habits to incorporate into my life. Honestly, I think habits, in general, get a bad rep (aka: biting your nails), but I’m here to put a better spin on them…sound good? With that being said, you know they say it takes 21 days to quit or acquire a habit, and I definitely believe that (in most cases) and think that is completely do-able. So, take a peek below to read about the 5 Habits That You Should Do For Yourself!
1. WATER WHEN YOU WAKE
Yeah, no joke, this wakes me right up. I wake up, sit up, stretch, and then chug some water. Your body literally went hours without it and room temp water is oddly very refreshing in the morning and easy to drink up!
2. TAKE TIME TO READ
Not just for entertainment but for business and self-improvement. Even in the book RICH HABITS, they find that most wealthy people read more often and read books that focus on self-improvement, education, and success. I typically read a few books at a time and I switch back and forth. From my murder mystery to my business books (p.s. see what I’m currently reading on my about page HERE).
3. TEA BEFORE COFFEE
You’ve heard me say this plenty of times and at least recommend you try it out for a week and see if you notice any changes. I tend to have a longer spirt of energy when I drink my coffee about 2ish hours after I wake up.
4. KEEP TRACK OF IT!
That’s right, make a habit of tracking your habits! I highly recommend literally checking it off your list every day to make sure you are sticking to the habit. At the end of 21 days, you should also give yourself a reward…coz you definitely deserve it. AKA: If I do 21 days of tea before coffee I’ll reward myself with a Hazelnut latte from our local coffee shop. This keeps you accountable and on track. P.S. I also have the perfect HABIT TRACKER in my SHOP too ;)
5. MAKE A LIST
Every night before bed I make a list of things that are on my mind…like anything and everything that is crossing my mind. From what I might need to pack for our weekend away, what client projects are a priority in the morning, a gift idea for my sisters birthday in 6 months, what color to paint my naails, etc! I’m sure you have heard that before too, to write down everything prior to bed will help you fall asleep. So, with that, I created a FREE-DOWNLOAD you can actually print out, cut, and put on your bedside table to help relieve some of those thoughts :)
P.S let me know if you have any other good habits that I can give a try! I’m always up for trying something new!

I agree that learning a new habit takes time but definitely worth it for our health! I Always try to drink a glass of water first thing when I wake up! I am going to try out the tea before coffee. I know tea has lots of benefits and I am looking forward to see positive changes. Thank you!
It’s so worth it! And a good challenge for your brain and body!
Hi Angela! Thanks so much for sharing this list—so helpful!! I especially love the idea of jotting down everything on your mind before you go to bed. I often find myself wide awake at 3am thinking of (dreading) everything I need to do the next day!! It never seems so bad in the light of day, right? And a list is even better! Also, had to leave a comment, because I’m a fellow murder mystery fan!! I found the “Miss Fisher” series on Netflix a few years ago, and have recently started reading the books—definitely recommend if you’re looking for something fun to read! xoxo
Oooh, I’m definitely interested in this “Miss Fisher” series! I’m back into reading murder mysteries again and love when they turn into movies or shows! Thank you :)
