A Bone Marrow Donor

My Life

Hi again, I recently received an email about becoming a bone marrow donor and signing up on ‘Be The Match’. This particular email was in regards to a very young little boy (just turned one) who is need of a bone marrow transplant due to a genetic disease. This hurt my heart, I am not a parent and never ever want to imagine the pain and heartache they are going through at this moment. I used to give plasma every week back in my college days, which was a desperate need for money, but was also an good feeling knowing my plasma could potentially help save a life. So, I thought to myself “why not become a donor?”.  I would gladly go through those days/weeks of pain as a donor knowing that it would either save a life or give that family that much more time with their loved one.  I am not that well educated with the entire process, but am willing to dig some more into it and see if it’s something I can do (or that my body can handle).  So I guess with that I encourage you all to at least take a look on Be The Match or Delete Blood Cancer .

Also please feel free to comment about this process or if you have any experience with this, any advice or knowledge is always appreciated!
