It is a farmhouse, but considering my style is a bit more European than a country farmhouse, let’s call it the Mini Manor ;) A manor is a large private house in the country, usually built in the Middle Ages, and also includes the land and smaller buildings around it}
Well, this is a small private house, in the country, built in 1920, and includes a large garage/outbuilding on it ;) – So, I think manor works!

Why we decided to move with a one-year-old.
We said we would wait a few years (possibly have a 2nd kiddo) and then find our forever home. However, this one popped up in April and the minute I saw the property and some of those window views, I was sold.
However, the months to follow were very ROUGH after the accepted offer. Listing our home was not a great experience. We ended up getting way under what we were told it could sell for and it took weeks to sell too. Not only that, we had some issues with this house/sller along the way as well.
However, those brutal 2 months were all worth it… it’s just SO beautiful.
About Our New Home
We went from a 4 bedroom – 3200sq/ft home to a 2 bedroom – 1700sq/ft. So, if we grow our family, I’m not quite sure what the plan will be (or where my office will be ;) but I love the coziness of this home.
It was built in 1920 and fully renovated in 2008. They tore it all down to the studs, which means our floors are not quite level and the walls are not square. However, all of Charli’s and Curry’s balls roll to the same spot ;) The house still has the original log/tree support in the basement and some great character.
They did an amazing job on the reno and put some quality stuff in. I’m excited to turn it into ‘my home’, by adding color, wallpaper, patterns, and even more character!
My First Project(s)
I plan to tackle the exterior first so I can get my Fall bulbs planted. I know I want my white tulips and a few hydrangeas around the house (duh ;) and to transform the main entrance area. I couldn’t help but do a little envisioning below!
I might also re-stain the built-ins to add a bit more contrast from the floors and paint the tile black. This might be the only interior project for awhile, as it isn’t easy having a 1 year old running around constantly (while running a business)!
But for now, let’s just take it in…
I don’t want to rush anything in this house, as I want to make intentional, quality updates. I can definitely picture is having some more color in the rooms and hope to create ‘update goals’ each year.
The good thing, it’s pretty great the way it is (you know I love those windows/trim). So, it already feels like home and I’m excited to see how I get to transform it!
