A puppy for Christmas

Something I never thought I would actually get to say…that I got a puppy for Christmas! For those who know me may know that I’ve wanted a puppy for years (about 18+) and that I am slightly obsessed with miniature dachshunds. As in, if I see one walking by I get overly excited and just want to hug and hold it (slighty crazy, but it’s true). For about 6 months I’ve been itching to get one of my own even more, now that we are settled into our home and finally have the space (and attention). Just about every night I would fall asleep perusing mini doxies on my phone (sometimes for hours), from looking at pics on pinterest to checking out if any pups are available within the couple states around us.

Then, I finally found a litter that had a smooth coat piebald (2 color) boy and girl mini doxie..I immediately emailed them and found out they were still available! Within a week we decided to go see the pups and put a deposit down, when we arrived the girl was already taken and the little guy was waiting to be chosen…poor thing was picked last (saving the best for last ;).  The minute we held him and his tiny, shaking body I completely fell in love with those puppy dog eyes.  I was so ready to take him home that instant and love him like crazy, but we had to wait 2 weeks until that 8 week mark.  Let me tell you..those 2 weeks seem to have taken months. But in that time I read endless amounts of articles, purchased his puppies necessities, and mentally prepped for our new little family member.

With that, meet Mr. Reginald ‘Curry’ which is after my husbands favorite basketball players, Reginald (Reggie) Miller and Stephen Curry, in which our little guy will be called Curry  ;)  I want to share our progress with him as we are definitely trying to learn as we go…and since it’s been only 2 nights, all I can say is this little guy sure is needy! Sleep training in the crate is very difficult so far, as we tried to let him be, lay next to him, and tried to put our arm in to calm him.  He also will follow us around like crazy, basically will whimper the minute we are out of site.  And don’t get me started on potty training..to soon. But, I have to confess, it’s kinda neat having something that little to love you so much, especially when he wakes up and gives you tons of kisses!

Yeah..I’m guilty of putting him into odd objects to get a picture. Poor thing ;)

He’s only 8 weeks old today and weighs about 3.15 lbs (of pure cuteness)
