My Labor Day Weekend

Happy Monday Tuesday! I hope everybody had an absolutely lovely labor day weekend! On Sunday I went back to my roots to attend the our mini Scheffer family reunion (aka just 4 generations). It was at our family farm which has been around for 132 years..and it is still running! My dad grew up with one brother and six sisters (poor guys) in a very modest and small farm house. I’m sure you can also imagine the amount of cousins I have…and the amount of food we have at family gatherings. The best part of this weekend was finally seeing everybody again and being able to reminisce about our childhood memories. Every summer as a child we would spend a week or two at my grandma’s house and get to play at the farm whenever we wanted, amusing ourselves by building mazes in the hay loft and going on ‘adventures’ (setting out in the woods hoping to find our way back). There was a set group of 6 of us cousins that were inseparable, and always looked forward to those days on the farm. We were lucky enough to act on some of those memories this weekend, visiting the cows, enjoying a hay ride, and of course going on an adventure climbing up to the fire tower and taking in the beautiful view. I am beyond lucky to grow up with such a large extended family, I am pretty sure I can thank my creativity from my years living in the country and visiting this farm…because I had to have one heck of an imagination.  {oh, and yes we all had matching t-shirts and I was lucky enough to design them :) Have a lovely week!
