Our French-Inspired Baby Nursery Design Details

Interior Inspiration

Aahhh, I am so excited to share the first look at the inspiration behind our girl’s french-inspired baby nursery! It’s calming, classic, and the perfect amount of je ne sais quoi. To be completely honest, although I was terrified at the thought I’d be raising a human, I was VERY excited about the nursery ;)

Our French-Inspired Nursery Style

When I first started pinning ideas for the nursery (before knowing the gender), I really wanted chinoiserie wallpaper framed above the crib. I know it’s more feminine, but was planning on balancing it with more neutrals and even some woodland accents.

But, then we found out we’re having a little lady and knew it would be a perfect fit with some subtle and delicate girly details. I don’t really plan to get much for pink (yet), but know it plays beautifully with sage green, gold, etc.

Here’s a peek at the nursery inspiration and some of the items we’ll be putting into the room. And as much as I tried to talk my husband into adding scones, that was just a no-go. So, I’ll save that idea for the next house ;)

The Nursery Paint Color

In typical fashion, I STRUGGLED with paint choices but knew I wanted a cool sage. The problem.. I was planning to get Mizzle or Cromarty from Farrow & Ball, but my husband was too nervous it was going to look too light (and minty). Unfortunately, he’s scarred from our old bedroom paint color, so asked if we can go darker.

So, we ended up just going (without a sample) with Pigeon, which is QUITE a bit darker. And to be honest, a bit darker than I envisioned. But, it is SUCH a beautiful color that is quite the chameleon. We actually did the same color match as Chris Loves Julia with Sherwin Williams.

The Curtain Dilemma

I definitely splurged on these BEAUTIFUL acrylic curtain rods from Ballard Designs and the Rings (just not sure why the rod anchor doesn’t match the rings or cap). Either way, we are very excited to be able to easily open/close the curtains without it getting stuck on the middle partition bar that the rest of our rods have.

BUT, I CAN’T DECIDE ON THE CURTAIN

I LOVE how the gold looks against the Pigeon paint color, but, the gold next to that bamboo just looks off (too similar in color). So, although I love the gold, I think I need to do a creme/beige and found a few others. Who knew deciding a damn curtain would be so hard! I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if I kept the 3 colors to swap out occasionally…

BEIGE CURTAINS / BLUSH BEIGE

Oh, The Room Before ;)

I’ll share this in the full reveal, but just adding the wall trim and changing the paint has been such a drastic change! For the last 3 years, I’ve had to walk by this room and the crazy paint colors. So, along with the paint change and the new carpet (coming soon), it’s SO MUCH BETTER.

I’ll share more peeks on instagram HERE, but will do a full review once I get everything ordered and in place (which I should definitely start doing ;)
