Our Bedroom Style Makeover

Our First Home

Happy Humpday..it’s been such a busy week! From launching Chris Bosh’s new brand, our wedding featured on SMP, and now getting to share our bedroom style makeover! To be honest when I first saw our bedroom I didn’t ever think I would really love it..because I knew it didn’t get that much natural light (or it seemed). But friends, I was completely wrong…I’m obsessed now. I love the 2 windows, the vaulted ceilings, the calming feel, the white trim/doors, and the space!

We went with a soft minty blue (Come Sail Away 846 – Regal Select by Benjamin Moore in Eggshell), and paired it with soft textures and of course some gold. Not only that but we did quite a few DIY projects too!

Here’s the first one..this darn headboard! I saw a ton of DIY Headboards on pinterest and thought I could do it too. Well, even though I did it was crazy difficult. Luckily it did ‘save’ me money because we used the pegboard found in our basement when we moved in, 2x4s that were left over from something, and just had to buy 2 twin foam mattress pads, a $3 cheap blanket to cover the foam, and then the $10 linen dropcloth to cover it with..oh and the buttons. So overall I think it still cost me about $60..and 5+ hours of my time. So really I think buying a $200 one would have made more sense!

Another DIY we did was our end-tables, you can see that post here. They were quite easy to make and are pretty durable and perfect size.

(See that little display above..only $5 at Michaels in the Jewelry section)

And these stools, you can see the before picture here, I just re-painted them and added a new cushion to cover it with this faux fur..they are my favorite (and only cost $15 total)!

Lastly, the dresser was my dads old dresser (he painted black and used as a entertainment center..hence the misses drawers), so I just swapped out the hardware (and painted them gold).

Now, here was my inspiration board which I actually matched up pretty well!

And here are the before and afters! It’s pretty crazy what a difference painting the walls and trim can do!

I love your bedroom. There is so much light despite having dark furniture and I love the gold accents and those stools are to die for! I would definitely just stay in bed all day if this was my room. Congratulations on achieving such a beautiful décor!

Thank you so much! I was pretty hesitant about the dark end tables and definitely the dark dresser..but it did seem to work out (and the last thing I would want to paint)! It’s definitely my little oasis :)
